Belden was founded by Joseph C. Belden in Chicago in 1902.
The first major breakthrough for Belden occurs in 1905 when, after much experimental work, "Beldenamel" insulation is created. This flexible enamel insulation would provide the foundation for Belden's early success.
During last years, they bought and merged with many companies as: Cooper Industries, Cable Design Technologies Corporation (CDT), Hirschmann, Telecast Fiber Systems, GarrettCom, Poliron, SCADA, Miranda Technologies, Grass Valley, ProSoft Technology, Tripwire, Snell Advanced Media Limited, Opterna, OTN Systems, macmon secure GmbH, etc.
