Renata (Renata SA) is a world leading manufacturer and supplier of primary and secondary microbatteries and battery solutions. The company is headquartered in Itingen, near Basel.
In 1952, Kurt Zehntner founded the company to manufacture components for wristwatches. Precision and reliability have played a key role at Renata since its founding. Originally, Renata's employees manufactured high-precision calibrated balances for mechanical watches.
In 1974, Renata began research leading to the creation of the first Renata button cell batteries. What seems simple today, at the time presented many challenges.
They have been part of the Swatch SA Group since 1982.
