The Ardumoto Shield serves as a dual-motor controller designed specifically for Arduino applications. Utilizing the L298 H-bridge, this SparkFun Ardumoto offers the capability to control two DC motors individually, with a maximum current of 2A per channel. When paired with an Arduino, it becomes an ideal platform for controlling RC vehicles or small autonomous robots. Enhanced with control signal LEDs, the Ardumoto now provides improved usability, catering to both novice and advanced users alike.
Drawing power from the same Vin line as the Arduino board, the shield incorporates blue and yellow LEDs to signify the active direction. Additionally, all driver lines are safeguarded with diodes against back EMF. With its two-channel motor driver configuration, the L298 enables independent control over two motors, making it particularly suitable for two-wheel-drive vehicles. Each channel of the L298 can deliver up to 2A to its connected motor. However, it's essential to consider that the actual current available to your motor is contingent upon your system's power source.
Please note that the Ardumoto does not come with screw terminals or stackable headers, which need to be purchased separately.
